What to include so we can actually help

Most of what slows a reply down is a missing detail. The form above goes to a real inbox monitored by the person who wrote the code, not a ticket queue, so a specific message usually gets a specific answer on the first pass.

A tool is giving the wrong number

Tell us the tool name, the exact inputs you entered, the result you got, and the result you expected with its source — a Manual table, a supplier quote, a hand calculation. Nearly every report we cannot reproduce is missing the inputs. If the tool is one of the reference databases, include the designation or species so we can look at the same row you did.

A reference value looks wrong

Cite the source and edition. Section properties on the AISC shape database follow published Manual conventions, joist data on the bar joist database follows SJI designations, and Janka figures on the wood species database are species averages. Disagreements are often an edition difference or a mill tolerance rather than an error, and knowing which one it is changes how we fix it.

License keys, activation, and refunds

Include the email address used at checkout and the product name. Desktop activation is tied to a hardware fingerprint, so if you have changed machines say so and we will release the seat. The End-User License Agreement covers seat counts and subscription behaviour if you want the terms before writing.

Feature requests and custom shop tooling

Describe the workflow rather than the feature. "I need a column for X" is harder to act on than "I hand off a bolt list to purchasing every Friday and retype it into their format." The second one tells us what to build. We do take on custom work for fabrication and millwork shops when the problem generalises.

• Can I use these numbers for a stamped design? No. Every tool here is a detailing and estimating aid. Load-bearing decisions need graded material, current code, and a qualified designer.
• Is there an offline version? Yes, for the converter, calculator, chart, and developer suites. See Products.
• Where did this tool go? Tools occasionally get merged into a broader one. Check the StructLogic and SawdustLogic indexes, then write if you still cannot find it.
